Clothes moths eat your clothes, fabrics and rugs. Although, they are not as common as mice or flies, you may still have to deal with these problematic insects. The first step to getting rid of moths is finding their eggs. Once the eggs hatch, the caterpillars start eating. But where do moths lay their eggs and how should you handle this problem?

These are the places moths lay their eggs most commonly

Clothes moths primarily target clothing. You’ll most often find their eggs in clothing which is folded up, instead of hung. This is usually because it’s dark within folded clothing, and moths prefer this. Another place where moths lay their eggs in is beneath cuffs, collars and small openings like pockets.

What you should also understand is that moths do not only lay their eggs on clothing. For example, other places where moths lay their eggs include the backs of cupboards. They usually do this behind clothing which is hung up. This gives moth’s easy access to that clothing.

In fact, moths lay their eggs on any part of your cupboards. This includes the side walls, as well as the roof and floor. They also leave eggs on shelves and inside drawers. Also play attention to areas outside of your cupboards. One example of this is your baseboards. These pests land on skirting boards and then find cracks which they enter. They lay their eggs inside these cracks and also use them to hide away during the day. If your skirting boards have come away from the wall, then repair them.

Other places moths lay eggs in homes

If you have rugs or curtains made of natural fibres, then these may also be targeted because moths attack carpet.
