Their colouring also ranges anywhere from black to a mix of red and brown. Some species have wings while others do not. The majority of cockroaches with wings cannot fly far but can glide.

Cockroach faeces

One of the best ways to catch cockroaches is to identify the faeces they leave behind. Most cockroaches produce a pellet that resembles coffee grounds. Most common cockroach species do not produce noises. The exception is hissing cockroaches that produce a hissing noise (but don’t be alarmed – these don’t exist in the UK!). However, cockroaches can make noise as they travel. If there are enough of them present you might here skittering as they move at the same time. Do not rely on such a noise to identify a cockroach problem though. Only use it in addition to other signs of cockroaches.

Sudden allergies

Because allergies are caused by a variety of pests, they should only be used as evidence of a pest presence. You can also have an allergy test to determine the exact cause of the allergies.
